Among the drinks, there are some classics that are typical of the AlUla region too. Start the day with a Qahwa. Another speciality is Sahlab, a warm drink made from orchid tubers. The tubers are ground and mixed with hot milk or water, sugar and spices such as cinnamon and cardamom. Sahlab has a creamy consistency and a sweet, spicy taste. On sweltering days, jallab is a refreshing drink made with date syrup, rose water and grapefruit or raisin essence.
